Approach To Electrical Apparatus6.6 EMERGENCY APPROACHIn emergency situations where there is likely risk <strong>of</strong>electric shock to persons from <strong>electrical</strong>conductors or <strong>electrical</strong> apparatus, e.g. fallenconductor, prompt action shall be taken to ensurepeople are kept well clear <strong>of</strong> the hazard at a greaterthan safe approach distances in accordance withorganisational procedures.Safe Approach Distances shall apply only after theoperating authority has established that theserequirements can be safely applied.6.7 CONTACT WITH LIVE HIGH VOLTAGECONDUCTORS BY MEANS OFAPPLIANCESOnly approved and tested appliances shall bepermitted to be brought within the safe approachdistance, or into direct contact with live high voltageconductors.6.8 APPROACH TO LIVE HIGH VOLTAGEINSULATED CABLES6.8.1 GeneralWhen <strong>work</strong> is per<strong>for</strong>med near live high voltageinsulated cables, appropriate precautions shall beBlue Book – December 2005 Page 65 <strong>of</strong> 148
