Approach To Electrical Apparatus6.4 SAFE APPROACH DISTANCES –UNINSULATED MOBILE PLANT6.4.1 GeneralBecause <strong>of</strong> the physical capabilities <strong>of</strong>, andpotential hazard with mobile plant <strong>work</strong>ing adjacentto live conductors and/or <strong>electrical</strong> apparatus,specific consideration (including earthing) shall begiven to its use during planning <strong>of</strong> the <strong>work</strong>. (Refer5.4)6.4.2 Ordinary PersonsAn ordinary person in charge <strong>of</strong> the <strong>work</strong> shall,ensure that the mobile plant, its equipment andload is not placed or moved within the distancesshown in Table 4.6.4.3 Instructed Persons or Authorised PersonsAn instructed person or authorised person incharge <strong>of</strong> the <strong>work</strong> shall ensure that the mobileplant, its gear and load shall not approach liveconductors and/or <strong>electrical</strong> apparatus within thedistances as shown in Table 4.When <strong>work</strong>ing under glove and barrier procedures,and where the conductors and load are suitablyinsulated, the load should remain a minimum <strong>of</strong> 380Page 62 <strong>of</strong> 148 Blue Book – December 2005
