Approach To Electrical Apparatus6.2.3 Guidelines <str<strong>on</strong>g>f<strong>or</strong></str<strong>on</strong>g> the Development anduse <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> Alternative Safe ApproachDistances - SpecialWhen determining the safe approach distance -special and per<str<strong>on</strong>g>f<strong>or</strong></str<strong>on</strong>g>ming the task the followingc<strong>on</strong>trols shall be c<strong>on</strong>sidered:• Determining special safe approach distancesfrom:° ENA NENS 04-2006 Nati<strong>on</strong>alGuidelines <str<strong>on</strong>g>f<strong>or</strong></str<strong>on</strong>g> Safe Approach Distancesto Electrical and Mechanical Apparatusand/<strong>or</strong> IEEE 516 and related guidelinesas may be appropriate; and° Clause 9.6 Live W<strong>or</strong>k – High Voltage.• When developing <strong>or</strong>ganisati<strong>on</strong>al proceduresspecial c<strong>on</strong>siderati<strong>on</strong> shall be given to:° Flashover;° Possibility <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> inadvertent movement;° Minimising the durati<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>w<strong>or</strong>k</str<strong>on</strong>g> at thespecial safe approach distance; and° W<strong>or</strong>k techniques which providemaximum practical distance from livec<strong>on</strong>duct<strong>or</strong>s.Page 58 <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> 148 Blue Book – December 2005
