MaintenanceCAUTIONContamination of the backplane boardswill degrade the isolation specificationsof the switching cards. Make sure toonly handle these two boards by the edges.Handling and cleaning procedurescan be found in paragraph 7.3.power line and all other equipment beforechanging the firmware.Changing of the firmware may be necessary as upgrades becomeavailable. The firmware revision levels of the mainCPU and display CPU are displayed briefly on the front panelwhen the Model 7002 is switched on.1. Remove the backplane extender card as explained inparagraph 7.6.7.2. Refer to Figure 7-1 to locate the 12 backplane rowjumpers.3. Using a pair of wire cutters, cut out all 12 jumpers.4. Reassemble the Model 7002.The firmware for the main CPU is located in EPROM U105,a leadless IC which resides in a chip carrier on the digitalboard.Replacement of the main CPU firmware requires removal ofthe left side panel.
