Getting StartedThe scan count (number of scans) can be set to a finite value(1 to 9999) or for an infinite number of scans.Step 1 of the following procedure will RESET the Model7002 to a default configuration that is required for the demonstrationprocedures (paragraphs 3.7.2 and 3.7.3). Step 2will assign the 40-channel multiplexer simulator to slot 9.After the instrument leaves the scan layer, operation proceedsinto the channel layer.Channel layerIn general, channel events control the channel scan rate. WithImmediate channel spacing selected, a channel is scannedimmediately. With one of the other channel spacing eventsselected (Timer, External, GPIB, Manual or Trigger Link),the instrument waits until the appropriate event occurs beforescanning a channel. With Timer channel spacing selected,the first channel is scanned immediately. Each additionalchannel waits for the Timer to time out before it will bescanned.Step 1. RESET instrument1. Press the MENU key. The MAIN MENU will be displayed.2. Place the cursor on SAVESETUP using the andcursor keys and press the ENTER key. The SETUPMENU will be displayed.3. Place the cursor on RESET and press ENTER. The “RE-SETTING INSTRUMENT” message will be displayed.4. Press ENTER again. The “RESET COMPLETE” messagewill be displayed.5. Press ENTER to return the display to the SETUPMENU.6. Failure to properlyground the unit creates a shock hazardthat could result in injury or death.Step 2. Select multiplexer simulatorNOTEThe simulator cannot be selected if there isa Model 701X series card installed in slot9.1. Press the CARD CONFIGURATION key. The CARDCONFIG MENU will be displayed.2. Place the cursor on TYPE and press ENTER to selectSET CARD TYPE. The card type for the currently selectedslot will be displayed. For example:SET CARD TYPE NONESLOT-#1 #2 #3 #4 #5In the above example, if #3 flashes, it indicates that slot3 is assigned to be empty (NONE).3. Place the cursor on slot #9. If slot 9 is already assignedas 9990, then proceed to step 5. Otherwise, press EN-TER.4. Use the cursor keys to display number 9990 and pressENTER. Assignment number 9990 assigns the slot tooperate as a 40-channel multiplexer.5. Press EXIT twice to exit from the MAIN MENU.3-8
