When finished, use the EXIT key to back out of themenu structure.4.13.2 #-OF-POLESThe pole configuration of some switching cards can be altered.For example, the <strong>Model</strong> 7011 is normally used as a 2-pole, 40-channel multiplexer card. However, since Banks Aand B can be isolated from Banks C and D, you can configurethe card for 4-pole operation. In the 4-pole mode, channelsare paired together to form twenty 4-pole channels. See the<strong>Model</strong> 7011 <strong>Instruction</strong> <strong>Manual</strong> for details.Switch cards that have an additional pole mode capability aresummarized as follows:Pole ModeCard 1-Pole 2-Pole 4-Polemore of those unavailable channels were included in theScan List and/or in a Channel Pattern, then the entire ScanList and/or the affected Channel Pattern will be lost(cleared). See paragraph 4.8 and 4.11 for details.Perform the following steps to check or change the polemode of a switching card installed in the mainframe:1. Press the CARD CONFIGURATION to display theCARD CONFIG MENU.2. Place the cursor on #-OF-POLES and press ENTER todisplay the following menu:SELECT # OF POLESSLOT-#1 #2 #3 #4 #5SLOT-#6 #7 #8 #9 #103. Place the cursor on the appropriate slot number andpress ENTER. The pole mode selections for that slotwill be displayed. For example, if you selected slot 7, thefollowing message will be displayed:# OF POLES SLOT-71-POLE 2-POLE 4-POLECursor position (flashing menu item) indicates whichpole mode is currently selected.4. To retain the current pole mode selection press ENTERor EXIT. To change the pole mode, place the cursor onthe desired selection and press ENTER. Either actionwill return the instrument to the SELECT # OF POLESmenu.5. As can be seen from the above table forthe <strong>Model</strong> 7011 mux card, 20 channels become unavailablewhen changing from 2-pole to 4-pole operation. If one or4.13.3 CARD PAIRAs the name implies, CARD PAIR simply pairs a card in oneslot to a similar type switching card in another slot. When aCARD PAIR is enabled, corresponding channels of bothcards operate together as a pair. For example, closing channel2 of slot 1 will also close channel 2 of slot 6. Conversely,closing channel 2 of slot 6 will close channel 2 of slot 1.CARD PAIR is especially useful when performing four-wirescanning.The following card pairs are available:4-39
