Front Panel OperationNotes:1. CLOSE and OPEN are only functional when the channellist is selected. OPEN ALL opens all channels and isfunctional at all times no matter what is currently beingdisplayed.2. Depending on the type of switching card used, it is possibleto exceed the current rating of the +6V supply byclosing too many channels. If this occurs, a scan willabort (go into idle), all channels will open, and the followingmessage will be displayed:ERROR: ID CODE = +350Too many channels closed4.10.1 Scan process (Trigger Model)The following information describes front panel control ofthe scan process. The flowchart (Trigger Model) in Figure4-12 summarizes scan operation from the front panel.IdleThe instrument is considered to be in the idle state wheneverit is not operating within one of the layers of the TriggerModel. The front panel ARM indicator is off when the instrumentis in the idle state. While in the idle state, the instrumentcannot perform a scan.Summary of Close/Open keys and LEDs:CLOSE — Close channels defined in channel listOPEN — Open channels defined in channel listOPEN ALL — Open all channels.4.10 Scanning channelsThe Model 7002 can scan through a specified list of channels.The order that the channels are presented in the scan listdetermines the channel order for the scan.From the front panel, the Model 7002 is taken out of the idlestate by pressing the STEP key. When not in the idle state(ARM indicator on) the scanning function is considered tobe enabled.A scan can be aborted at any time by pressing the OPENALL key. The Model 7002 will return to the idle state.Once the instrument is taken out of the idle state, operationproceeds into the arm layer of the Trigger Model.4-20
