Maintaining Your CG-5 and Trouble-shootingIf this specification is not met, then proceed with thesteps as outlined in “Adjusting the Cross-Coupling”next.Adjusting Cross-Couplinga. Place the Autograv on the tripod in a quietlocation with a solid floor (concrete ispreferable). A wooden floor or carpet is notsuitable.b. On a piece of protective foam, lay theAutograv down on its front and view thebottom of the instrument. See the figurebelow:PRESSPRESSFigure 5-6 - Bottom of Autograv Slider Plate. The slider plateis the horizontal grey plate with a cone and vee-grooveand two screws shown above.c. Loosen the two screws on the slider plateuntil the plate can slide freely.d. Raise the tripod feet eight (8) turns from theirbottom positions.MEASURECLRF5e. Place the instrument onto the tripod.f. Press the MEASURE CLR followed by theF5 key to prepare for leveling.g. Level the instrument until X = ± 10, Y = ± I5-30CG-5 Manual - part # 867700 Revision 2
Adjusting Tilt Sensor Cross- Couplingh. Wait 5 minutes and observe the Y-tilt Recordthe value as Y0.i. Rotate the front footscrew clockwise fiveturns. Observe the Y-tilt value on theLEVELING screen.j. Hold the tripod in place as it must not moveduring this step. Rotate the instrument on thetripod until Y = Y0 ± 5 (if Y < 0, then rotateinstrument clockwise).MaintenanceNote:The slider plate should slide relative to the case. Ifpossible, have a second person hold the tripod.k. Tighten the two screws on the Vee grooveplate.l. Repeat steps h. and i. The difference in Y (i.e.Y0 - Y) should be less than 5 seconds.
