As was previously pointed out, fixating on “beauty” (ei<strong>the</strong>r our own physical appearance<br />

or that of ano<strong>the</strong>r) carries with it some destructive consequences. Not only does it waste<br />

enormous amounts of our time and our money, but it is also damaging to our physical<br />

health, debilitating to our sense of mental calm, and debasing to our social relationships.<br />
