PUBLICATIONS

In the discharge of their official duties certain persons and institutions
require Canadian Government publications. In such•
cases the
Queen's Printer is authorized to supply copies of necessary
documents free of charge.
Full depositories
The full-depository libraries are entitled to receive one copy
of every publication of the Parliament or Government of Canada
which is made available to the Superintendent of Government
Publictions for distribution.
Selective depositories
Selective-depository libraries are entitled to select any series of
government publications they are able to adequately place at the
disposal of the public.
The Daily Checklist incorporates the functions of a Depository
Invoice for full-depository libraries and of an Order Form for
selective-depository libraries. To receive the selection they have
applied for, selective-depository libraries must make application
within thirty days after receiving the issues of the Daily Checldist in
which the desired items appeared.
Depository libraries abroad
Some foreign libraries may be granted the same privile,ges • as
depository libraries in Canada. Foreign depositories appear on a
list which is drawn up and revised annually by the Department of
External Affairs of Canada. When a foreign library's application is
accepted for designation as a depository of Canadian Government
publications, it is on condition that it will assume the same obligations
placed on similar depository libraries located in Canada.
(d) Mailing service for other agencies of the Government
including the maintenance of naailing lists
Included in Publications Branch functions are faCilities and
equipment for periodical addressing and mailing of publications sold
by the department and/or free ,distribution on behalf of departmento
issuing such literature.
