B.5 USE OF <strong>SATCOM</strong> FOR BUSINESS APPLICATIONS<br />

Under the current legal framework, <strong>railway</strong> infrastructure managers are obliged to <strong>of</strong>fer <strong>railway</strong><br />

operators a harm<strong>on</strong>ised communicati<strong>on</strong> service, which is included in the track access fee, but are not<br />

entitled to <strong>of</strong>fer these communicati<strong>on</strong> services <strong>for</strong> other added-value services. This secti<strong>on</strong> aims to<br />

obtain in<strong>for</strong>mati<strong>on</strong> regarding the view <strong>of</strong> ALL STAKEHOLDERS about the possibility <strong>of</strong> using satcom<br />

facilities, should they become available <strong>for</strong> trackside and <strong>railway</strong> <strong>on</strong> board use, <strong>for</strong> other business<br />

applicati<strong>on</strong>s, without c<strong>on</strong>sidering the legal c<strong>on</strong>straints that may accompany this opti<strong>on</strong>.<br />
