Delay study<br />

Since this soluti<strong>on</strong> is based in a GEO satellite, the main part <strong>of</strong> the transmissi<strong>on</strong> delay will be the propagati<strong>on</strong> delay between terminal and satellite and<br />

vice-versa. There<strong>for</strong>e, the following approximati<strong>on</strong> is d<strong>on</strong>e:<br />

T tx is the transmissi<strong>on</strong> time <strong>for</strong> a given packet<br />

T rx is the recepti<strong>on</strong> time <strong>for</strong> a given packet<br />

T up is the propagati<strong>on</strong> delay from ground to the overhead satellite<br />

T down is the propagati<strong>on</strong> time from the satellite to the ground<br />

Observe that within this case the <strong>for</strong>mula includes also a ‖T rx ‖ (just like the previous soluti<strong>on</strong> including the ANTARES CS). It is due to the fact that the time<br />

spent processing the recepti<strong>on</strong> <strong>of</strong> an asynchr<strong>on</strong>ous CDMA burst based <strong>on</strong> E-SSA cannot be c<strong>on</strong>sidered a negligible value. An approximati<strong>on</strong> is d<strong>on</strong>e at<br />

this point assuming a similar value that ANTARES, where the recepti<strong>on</strong> process can take in mean a period <strong>of</strong> time <strong>of</strong> 1.5 times de transmissi<strong>on</strong> time (i.e.<br />

T rx = 1.5*T tx ).<br />
