Vajravilāsinī - The Five Symbolic Ornaments (Pañca Mudrā): 1) a long pearl necklace<br />

(muktāhāra), 2) a forehead lac streak (lac), 3) an ashoka flower (aśoka), 4) a forehead vermillion<br />

mark (sindūra, or red wine paste), <strong>and</strong> 5) black eye make-up (añjana). For <strong>the</strong> guru <strong>to</strong> give <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

female student.<br />

Padmanarteśvara - The Three Symbolic Ornaments (Tri Mudrā): 1) a long pearl necklace<br />

(muktāhāra), 2) a forehead saffron powder streak (kuṃkuma), <strong>and</strong> 3) an ashoka flower (aśoka).<br />

For <strong>the</strong> guru <strong>to</strong> give <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> male student.<br />

Saffron powder (kuṃkuma; or turmeric - haldi) – To mark <strong>the</strong> forehead of <strong>the</strong> male student.<br />

Lac (or red wine, oil <strong>and</strong> flour mixed in<strong>to</strong> a paste) – To mark <strong>the</strong> forehead of <strong>the</strong> female student.<br />

A curtain – To place around <strong>the</strong> maṇḍala.<br />

Flowers – Lotus or aśoka flowers are best. For <strong>the</strong> guru <strong>to</strong> give <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> students, one for each.<br />

Vajra – For <strong>the</strong> guru <strong>to</strong> give <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> students, one for each student.<br />

Bell – For <strong>the</strong> guru <strong>to</strong> give <strong>to</strong> each student, one for each student.<br />

The Sādhana of Secret Vajravilāsinī – One copy for <strong>the</strong> guru, one for each student, <strong>and</strong> one for<br />

each member of <strong>the</strong> kula.<br />

used in <strong>the</strong> consecration with <strong>the</strong> Action Vase while reciting <strong>the</strong> dhāraṇī mantra of <strong>the</strong> deity 10x.<br />

Preliminaries<br />

1. The guru transforms in<strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> deity, puts on <strong>the</strong> crown of <strong>the</strong> deity, <strong>and</strong> recites <strong>the</strong> seed mantra<br />

of <strong>the</strong> deity 1000x. The guru wears <strong>the</strong> crown of <strong>the</strong> deity for <strong>the</strong> duration of <strong>the</strong> consecration.<br />
