35 (35). Having repeated <strong>the</strong> mantra, <strong>the</strong>y utter <strong>the</strong> pleasure sound sīt.<br />

etan mantraṃ sammuccārya sītkāraṃ ca samuccaret<br />

With this mantra syllable, he gives a flower <strong>to</strong> her yoni.<br />

ādya kṣareṇa mantreṇa dadyāt puṣpaṃ su-madhyake<br />

After <strong>the</strong>y both recite “sīt,” he <strong>to</strong>uches a flower <strong>to</strong> her yoni <strong>to</strong> bless her.<br />

He returns <strong>the</strong> flower <strong>to</strong> his side, her h<strong>and</strong>s come down from his shoulders, <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong>y offer Añjali Mudrā.<br />

The Four Immeasurables<br />

36a (36a).<br />

They speak <strong>the</strong> Four Immeasurables,<br />

śūnyatāṃ bhāvayed yogī catur brahma vihāriṇaḥ<br />

Gaze in<strong>to</strong> each o<strong>the</strong>r’s eyes as you recite <strong>the</strong> Four Immeasurables <strong>to</strong>ge<strong>the</strong>r, pausing a moment after each<br />

aspiration <strong>to</strong> generate each quality <strong>and</strong> contemplate its meaning:<br />

“With profound love, may I <strong>and</strong> all beings live lives of perfect happiness.<br />

With profound compassion, may I <strong>and</strong> all beings live lives free from sorrow.<br />

With profound joy, may I <strong>and</strong> all beings live lives of perfect joy.<br />

With profound equanimity, may I <strong>and</strong> all beings live lives of perfect peace.”<br />

The Emptiness Mantra<br />

36b (36b).<br />

<strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong> Emptiness Mantra. Then meditate on emptiness.<br />

oṃ śūnyatādikaṃ mantraṃ manasoccārayet tataḥ<br />

Recite <strong>the</strong> Emptiness Mantra <strong>to</strong>ge<strong>the</strong>r, in Sanskrit <strong>and</strong> in English:<br />
