ถึงวันนี้คงปฏิเสธไม่ได้ว่าซากโบสถ์เซนต์ปอล (Ruin
of St. Paul) ได้กลายเป็นสัญลักษณ์ของมาเก๊าไปแล้ว
โบสถ์เซนต์ปอลรวมถึงมหาวิทยาลัยเซนต์ปอลที่อยู่ใน
บริเวณเดียวกันนี้สร้างขึ้นตั้งแต่ปีค.ศ. 1640 โดยนักบวช
นิกายเจซูอิต ปัจจุบัน ซากโบสถ์เซนต์ปอลถูกเปลี่ยน
ให้เป็นพิพิธภัณฑ์ โดยมีการใช้คอนกรีตและสตีลเสริม
โครงสร้างไว้เพื่อความปลอดภัย และแม้บางคนจะกล่าว

The Ruins of St. Paul has undoubtedly become
a symbol for Macau tourism. The complex,
consisting of St. Paul church and St. Paul
college, was built around 1640 by the Jesuits. At
present, the Ruins of St. Paul houses a museum
and to prevent further decay, durable materials
like concrete and steel are used to support the
structure. Many refer to St. Paul Church as a
cathedral, but despite its inspiring façade, the
church never received official ‘cathedral’ status.

Cristina Rocha Leiria เพื่อเป็นอนุสรณ์ในการส่งมอบ
มาเก๊าคืนให้กับจีน โดยพระพักตร์จะดูคล้ายกับชาวตะวันตก

It’s a little known fact that the Guan Yin statue
located by the bay was created by Portuguese
artist Cristina Rocha Leiria in commemoration of
Portugal transferring Macau back to China. The
face of the goddess looks a bit Western because
the design was based on the face of the Virgin
Mary in Christianity. At the lotus base of the
statue is a museum that recounts its history.
