APPRENTICESHIPSAPPRENTICESHIPSApprenticeships allow you to work and study at the same time. You will combine practical training inyour workplace with studying at college so that you can earn while you learn.We like to call it ‘the best of both worlds!’Why study an apprenticeship with us?• We have a dedicated matching service, so will help to match your skills to a suitable vacancy with an employer• Our experienced team will work with you and guide you through your apprenticeship• More than 90% of our apprentices continue in employment or receive a promotion following their apprenticeship completion• We will monitor your progress and keep in close contact with you and your employer.Apprenticeship levelsNo matter what level of apprenticeship you are on, you will receiveboth ‘on the job’ and ‘off the job’ training from your employer.On the job training refers to what you will learn when completingpractical tasks. Off the job training refers to training you will receiveoutside of your usual tasks, such as coaching and mentoring,work shadowing, online learning, and completing project work.Apprenticeships lead to industry recognised standards orqualifications. Some apprenticeships require an assessmentat the end of the programme to assess your ability andcompetence in the job role.Level234, 5, 6 and 76 and 7Equivalent educational level5 GCSE passes at grade 9 - 42 A Level passes/Level 3 Diploma/International BaccalaureateFoundation degree or aboveBachelor’s or Master’s degreeApprenticeship entry requirementsEntry requirements vary depending on your apprenticeship level. It is certainly advantageous to have a minimum of grade 4in English and Maths, although in most cases this is not essential. If you have not already achieved a grade 4 in English andMaths, you will need to study towards these as part of your apprenticeship. In some courses, you will have to achieve a certainlevel of English and Maths to be able to complete your apprenticeship. A number of courses also require you to study ICT if youhave not previously achieved a grade 4 or above.It is not essential to have had previous work experience, although this is definitely beneficial and could boost your chancesof securing an apprenticeship.Please speak to our Learner Services or Apprenticeship Team to find out about the entry requirements for individualapprenticeships.34
