Industry links
We have a vast number of employer links with local salons
and larger hotel chains, and we have strong links with
Steiner cruise liners. We also work with big brands such
as Dermalogica, Environ and Silhouette, who send guest
speakers to talk to our students.
We support students to find a work placement, giving
them the opportunity to work for a real employer. Previous
students have secured placements at The Park Royal Hotel,
Harmony Beauty Salon, Bride Be Lovely, Spa Beautiful and
The Village Hotel.
Alumni
One of our greatest success stories is previous student
Rianne Chester, who secured a gold medal for beauty
therapy at the World Skills International Competition in
São Paulo, Brazil. She also achieved the prestigious Albert
Vidal Medal, the highest accolade awarded to the best in
the competition; the first time anyone from the UK has been
awarded this prize.
Most students go on to work in a beauty salon or spa, in
local businesses and larger, multinational hotel chains. In
recent years, there has been a trend for therapists to rent
a chair in a salon, allowing them to be self-employed and
manage their own business and client base.
Trips and visits
Students visit Professional Beauty North, a leading beauty,
spa and hair trade show, where exhibitors showcase all
the latest developments in these industries. You will learn
from industry experts via live demonstrations, learning
about skincare, advanced treatments, specialist equipment,
wellness, nails, tanning and much more.
Facilities
The Academy is a fully-equipped commercial hair and
beauty salon where our students undergo their training.
It allows students to work in a real salon environment,
practising their skills on paying clients.
