“Harmonious Cities: <strong>Music</strong>, Technology, Culture and Health”<br />

High-Level Working Session<br />

In support of World Habitat Day<br />

Tuesday, 7 October 2008<br />

9:30 am – 1pm United Nations Headquarters Conference Room 9<br />

As part of the “Age of Connectivity: Cities, Magnet <strong>for</strong> Hope” Windsor Dialogue series<br />

this working session will stimulate new “result-oriented” mindsets and action in scaling<br />

up Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) interventions especially in are<strong>as</strong> of health,<br />

education, habitat and peace using <strong>Music</strong> <strong>as</strong> a Natural <strong>Resource</strong>. This PrepCom will<br />

focus on spearheading action through new model partnerships in practice. The Windsor<br />

Dialogues were begun at St. George’s House, Windsor C<strong>as</strong>tle, UK in 2007 where<br />

international decision-makers and experts gathered to reexamine, rethink, redefine and<br />

reprioritize existing and emerging programs. This working session will set the stage to<br />

chart a consensual, cross-cutting and cross-sector approach to the convergence of health,<br />

music and technology <strong>for</strong> the 21 st Century.<br />

Discussion Questions:<br />

*What can international cooperation do to help rele<strong>as</strong>e the potential of music and<br />

technology <strong>as</strong> tools <strong>for</strong> implementation of the MDGs?<br />

*How can music be maximized to are<strong>as</strong> of conflict and used <strong>as</strong> a peacemaking tool?<br />

*How can music be used <strong>as</strong> therapeutic tool within our urban and rural cities?<br />

*How can the existing research, experimentation and developed methods in music <strong>as</strong><br />

a healing tool be inventoried and made available to the <strong>for</strong> post conflict development<br />

professionals and healing communities?<br />

*How can music and digital technology be used to prevent and treat chronic<br />

dise<strong>as</strong>es and implement E - Rehabilitation?<br />

*How can we maximize the impact of Open City Portal to develop more harmonious<br />

cities?<br />

*What is on the market that can be utilized in new ways to enhance harmonious<br />

cities? M- Technologies, music, and M -heath and learning software<br />
