M!AnING P1OGRAM - SHORT -M BASIS<br />

3ANSPORTATION SUPERVISOR<br />

UGANDA PROJECT<br />

Train a Transportation Supervisor for a Trucking Operation and<br />

give this Trainee a working knowledge of a Farm Supply<br />

Distribution Center.<br />

Time Frame -. £pproximately 32 to 13 weeks.<br />

TIMING OF TRAININGs I would recommead the Trainee come to the United States<br />

prior to the time the Transportation Consultant arrives in Uganda.<br />

In this event the Trainee and the Consultant could establish a<br />

working relationship and the Trainee would have received hie<br />

total Tranaportation Supervisor training prior to the Uganda<br />

Froject. Obviously, the Transportation Supervisor Train.e would<br />

be better pi'epared to participate in setting up a Truck Transportation<br />

Operation in Uganda.<br />

PROPOSED TRAINING PROGRAM:<br />

Phase I Indoctrination<br />

Phase II Overview of a Distribution and Transportation Operation<br />

Phase III Mechanical Training<br />

Phase IV Driver Training<br />

Phase V Truck iig Operations<br />

Phase VI Administrative Procedures<br />

Phase VII Work with other Cooperatives<br />

Phase VIII Reviewail of Total Traling Program<br />

Curriculum and Time Frame for each phase of traiiing Lre listed below.<br />

Phase I Indoctrination (2 - 3 Days)<br />

This would give the Trainee a chance to settle ir and meet the<br />

various people he would be working with. We could also discuss<br />

the objectives and curriculum.<br />

Phiwe II Overview of a Distribution Center and Transortation Operation<br />

kApproximately 11 Weeks)<br />

This phase would give the Trainee an opportunity to briefly go<br />

through all phases of a Distribution Center, and give him a<br />

glimpse of the total program.<br />

A. Order entry system (J Day)<br />

B. Order processing through warehouse (1 Day)<br />

C. Receiving and shipping functioa (1 Day)<br />

D. Routing and dispatching drivers (2 Days)<br />

I. Go on delivery run (2 Days)<br />
