4.1. WAREHOUSING DEPARTAENT:<br />

I was taken around by the Warehousing Supervisor. The first<br />

section we visited is the Receiving Section. This section is<br />

a place where goods coming into the warehouse are received and<br />

they returned goods or newly ordered merchandise. Naturally<br />

there are two sections within the receiving department one for<br />

freshly ordered merchandise and the other for rethirxd goods.<br />

Below the Receiving department is discussed in greater detail.<br />

4.1. (a) RECEIVING DEPARTMENT :<br />

Here goods ordered by Midlands for its me<strong>mb</strong>ers or for packing<br />

for other outside organisations are received, also returned<br />

goods are received in this section. There are five main<br />

sections to which the goods are dispatched, orders being made<br />

by each individual section head. The six sections are as<br />

follows :­<br />

(A) Automotive Parts, This Section deals with the orders for<br />

small parts for automobiles i.e. spark plugs, light batteries<br />

and other motor accessories. In this section goods from the<br />

receiving department at times have to be re-packed in some<br />

cases, and re-asse<strong>mb</strong>led in other cases or both.<br />

(B) Diary and Livestock: This section deals with the<br />

purchase of livestock drugs and other accessories necessary<br />

for the diary and livestock department but not equipments for<br />

the livestock industry. They keep stocks of tanks, metal<br />

gates, and other stuff for diary and livestock, but not<br />

equipment.<br />

(C) Supply Department: This deals with the printing of<br />

materials required by me<strong>mb</strong>er Co-operative Unions nd runs a<br />

whole printing press. They also order stutionery and other<br />

goods required for running this Section, and Organisation as<br />

a whole.<br />

(D) Energy Department: This deals with the purchase of oils,<br />

tyres, gas pumps and gasoline and it is this same section
