PORTS AND TERMINALS 51
In general, port or terminal operators should make sure that all portable firefighting equipment is:
• located in a readily-accessible position;
• identified to be clearly visible;
• well protected against physical damage (e.g. vehicle impact);
• unobstructed and readily available;
• not adversely affected by hazardous or climatic conditions; and
• regularly inspected, serviced, pressure tested and recharged as necessary (see instructions
from supplier or manufacturer).
Terminal or port operators should provide portable fire-extinguishing equipment in the right number,
appropriate kind and with the proper capacity.
