17. Programme de Génétique et de Biologie humaines. Le premier Sémi-
naire pour l'Etude des Athlètes olympiques a été tenu du 17 au 21 juillet
1967, et les premiers tests ont été effectués lors de la Troisième Com-
pétition sportive internationale; le second Séminaire s'est déroulé du
25 au 29 mars 1968, et la seconde série d'expériences, de septembre
à fin octobre. Des experts figurant parmi les plus célèbres du monde
ont examiné 1 245 athlètes de 93 pays, dont 196 ont fait l'objet d'une
étude approfondie.
18. Exposition des Sites de Sport et de Culture et Rencontre de jeunes
Architectes. Du 25 septembre au 30 novembre. L'Exposition, qui pré-
sentait 214 projets exécutés par 175 architectes de 39 pays, a compté
25 382 visiteurs. A la Réunion ont assisté 171 architectes de moins de
30 ans, originaires de 20 pays.
19. La Publicité au service de la Paix. Du 12 au 30 octobre. Le Comité
organisateur a collaboré avec 64 agences de publicité pour remplacer
les annonces commerciales de Mexico par des compositions graphiques
et des textes célébrant la paix et la fraternité universelles.
20. Diffusion télévisée et cinématographique des Jeux. D'octobre 1968
à août 1972. Les projets les plus importants étaient les cinq volumes
du Mémoire et le film "Olympiade au Mexique", que complétaient des
courts métrages et des vidéotapes.
Bien que la capitale ait été le principal centre des activités, le pays
tout entier a participé à l'Olympiade culturelle, puisque chacun des
vingt-neuf Etats a accueilli un ou plusieurs des 552 événements or-
ganisés en province, dont 171 concerts, 45 ballets, 151 projections

17. The Program on Human Genetics and Biology. First International
Seminar, a Study of Olympic Athletes, from July 17 to 21,1967, and first
review of findings at the Third International Sports Competition in
October; Second International Seminar, from March 25 to 29, 1968,
and second review of findings, from September until the end of Oc-
tober. Some of the world's foremost experts examined 1,245 athletes
from 93 countries, studying 196 of them in depth.
18. Exhibition of Sites for Sports and Cultural Activities and the In-
ternational Meeting of Young Architects. September 25 to November 30.
The Exhibition presented 214 projects designed by 175 architects from
39 countries, and was seen by 25,382 visitors. A total of 171 architects
under the age of 30, from 20 countries, took part in the Meeting.
19. Advertising in the Service of Peace. October 12 to November 30.
The Organizing Committee collaborated with 64 advertising firms to
replace commercial advertising in Mexico City with graphics and texts
related to peace and international brotherhood.
20. Projection of the Games. From October, 1968, through August, 1972.
Principal projects were the Commemorative Volumes and the Olympic
Film—"Olympiad in Mexico"—as well as complementary film shorts
and video-tapes.
While the host city was the center of Olympic cultural activity, the
entire country participated in the year-long Cultural Olympiad. All of
Mexico's twenty-nine states took part in one or more of the 552 cultural
events held outside Mexico City. Among the latter were 171 concerts,
45 ballets, 151 motion-picture showings and 130 theatrical performances.
Programs from 39 of the 97 nations that participated in the Cultural
Olympiad were seen in more than half of the states. Guadalajara,
Mexico's second-largest city, was visited by Claudio Arrau, the Bay-
anihan Ballet, Van Cliburn, the Swingle Singers, I Musici, the Zhok Folk
Ballet, the National Ballet of Canada, the Berlin Opera, Duke Ellington,
the Toulouse Chamber Orchestra, Piraikon Theatron, the Ballet of India,
the Moscow Music Hall, the Newport Jazz Festival, the Noh and Kyogen
Theatre, the Africain Ballet, Mexico's National Ballet, the Idla Olympic Bal-
