In Guanajuato the Cultural Olympiad was celebrated with a week-long program
of many of the dance and theatrical groups that presented performances in the
capital. Speakers at the inaugural program (opposite, lower right) were Ale-
jandro Ortega San Vicente, Manuel M. Moreno, Governor of Guanajuato, Pedro
Ramírez Vázquez, and Euquerio Guerrero, Rector of the University of Guanajua-
to. The overflow opening-night audience was filled with many distinguished
guests from throughout Mexico as well as from abroad, incliding the Indian
ambassador to Mexico and his wife.
