The Cultural Olympiad was not confined to the host city. All of the states
of Mexico took part in some degree. In Monterrey, Van Cliburn's piano concert
(above) was the highlight of the Cultural Program. After his masterful per-
formance at the city's principal theatre, he was feted at a sumptuous banquet.
