a employé soixante-quatre personnes, manipulé neuf cent quarante mille
huit cent mille pesos.
The organization, operation and control of transportation services and
the maintenance of vehicles came under the jurisdiction of the Or-
ganizing Committee's centralized Transportation Administration. A radio
communications network was established to control the circulation of
traffic, and schedules were arranged for public service. Participants at
secondary sites such as Acapulco received similar service, as well as
transportation to and from the host city to attend the opening and closing
ceremonies. Personnel employed by the Transportation Administration
reached a maximum of 2,450 during the month of October, 1968.
To assure adequate postal service, four temporary post offices and 950
mailboxes were installed in areas where participants and visitors were
concentrated. The post-office service was offered from September 1
until November 7 and employed sixty-four persons. During this period
these offices handled 940,000 pieces of correspondence and sold 1.8
million pesos' worth of stamps. In addition, special mobile postal units
circulated at all the competition sites in order to expedite postal service.
These units sold 850,000 pesos' worth of the stamps issued to com-
memorate the Games of the XIX Olympiad.
