A partir de la combinaison, envisagée par Pedro Ramírez Vázquez, des cinq
anneaux et de l'année olympiques, Lance Wyman et Eduardo Terrazas ont
conçu le logotype MEXICO 68, puis l'ont développé pour créer la célèbre affiche
des Jeux qui rappelle les motifs des Indiens huicholes (en bas à gauche). Cet
emblème a aussi servi de point de départ à l'alphabet olympique, l'un des
principaux éléments du Programme d'Identité olympique.
Working from Pedro Ramírez Vázquez' concept of combining the five Olympic
rings and the year 1968, Lance Wyman and Eduardo Terrazas developed the
MEXICO 68 logotype, and through the extension of linear elements created
the widely acclaimed poster which recalls traditional Huichol design (below left).
From the logotype evolved the distinctive Olympic alphabet–a prominent
element of the Olympic Identity Program.
