3.1.3. Fish Growth Characteristics<br />

Climbing perch is a small-size species without stomach but a thick and short<br />

intestine bulb characteristic of omnivorous fish (K h o a & H u o n g 1993, B a r n a b e<br />

1994). On the other hand, growth rate of climbing perch is slow. The fish weight<br />

ranges from 50-60 and 60-90 g in natural conditions for males and females<br />

respectively. Food combination of shrimp, trash fish, sea fish, rice brain, fish<br />

meal, poultry manure and livestock manure can be used for fish rearing in ponds;<br />

their weight ranges from 30-35 g after three months and 60-100 g after six<br />

months (K h a n h 2001). Daily weight gain ranges from 0.5-0.9 g/day in pond with<br />

supplementary food ( M a n g k l a m a n a 1986).
