You need to use above table as your reference for design of the<br />

suction header, or suction line for the fire pump, as example for two<br />

pumps each 1000 USGPM, and there is chance That both pumps<br />

will operate together, it is recommended to use 2000 USGPM<br />

guide fitting for the main suction, or discharge header.<br />

1.6. Suction Line to The Pump:<br />

We see many mistakes, which can strongly affect the pump<br />

performance, mainly entering air pockets, or un-balance of flow,<br />

pump bearing failure, as per the following drawings.<br />

1.7. Foundation<br />

The foundation should be sufficiently substantial to absorb<br />

vibrations and rigid enough to avoid any twisting or misalignment.<br />

As a rough guide it should be 300mm wider on all sides with the<br />

weight at least 1-1.5 times as heavy as the pump set. Depth should<br />

be sufficient to achieve the necessary weight and deep enough to<br />

accommodate drilling pockets for fixing bolts.
