Die Sektionen der Tagung »Die Wege der Bilder. Sammlungspolitik ostdeutscher Kunst in und nach der DDR« gewährten den rund 140 Teilnehmern Einblicke
in die unterschiedlichsten Sammlungen: u. a. in die Galerie der Neuen Meister Dresden, in die Sammlung des Kunstmuseums Dieselkraftwerk Cottbus, in die
Kunstsammlung der Universität Leipzig oder in eine Reihe von unterschiedlichen Sammlungen ehemaliger DDR-Großbetriebe.

The workshop preluded a research network focused on
the political and social semantics in contemporary history.
As studies in the field of conceptual history conventionally
concentrate on the saddle period, this concept
hasn’t yet been keenly adapted to the 20th century,
whose significant features – the internationalization
of politics, the social expansion of speaker’s circle within
mass societies, the abundance of sources, last but not
least the temporal proximity to the object – render a
respective scientific undertaking rather difficult.
The workshop aimed at surveying the state of
the art on approaches and projects of a history of the
basic concepts (Grundbegriffe) of the 20th century and
asked for new methodical and theoretical perspectives

within the research field of conceptual history, particularly
with regard to peculiar phenomena of the period
namely transnational and intercultural processes of
transfer, radical disruptions in the experience of time,
or the intertwined relations between mediality, pictoriality
and language.

Der Workshop galt dem Austausch und der Diskussion
mit den Herausgebern von Docupedia-Zeitgeschichte
im zweiten Jahr des Bestehens des Online-Nachschlagewerks.
Intensiv behandelt wurden Fragen zur weiteren
technischen Entwicklung und Nutzerpartizipation sowie
zur Qualitätssicherung.
