In verschiedenen
Einfallswinkel nieder. Anhand von simulierten Daten sollen diese
Einflüsse abgeschätzt werden.
The KASCADE experiment at the Forschungszentrum Karlsruhe has
been extended by 37 detector stations of the former EAS-Top experiment
to be sensitive to energies up to 10 18 eV. KASCADE and the new Grande
extension form the KASCADE-Grande experiment. To improve the quality
of the data taken by the Grande array, a new Flash ADC based data
acquistion system is presently being developed. The signals of each of the
37 detector stations will be digitized and transmitted via an optical link
to the Grande DAQ station. Approx. 90,000 single events per second will
be transferred to and temporarily stored in the memories of PCs. The
data acquisition software will search for coincidences and will also accept
triggers of other KASCADE components, to build air shower events. The
resulting data rate is in the order of a few air shower events per second,
which will be sent to the central DAQ of KASCADE-Grande.
The KASCADE-Grande experiment located at the Forschungszentrum
Karlsruhe is a multi-detector setup combining the KASCADE experiment
and the former EAS-TOP detector stations from the Gran Sasso. We are
developing a new FADC system in order to improve the data aquisition
quality. Measured pulse shapes from individual scintillators are sampled
with a frequency of 250 MHz i.e. a 4 ns sampling interval. The pulse
shapes vary strongly with the distance from the shower core. Different
fast algorithms for the pulse shape reconstruction are investigated.
A Proposal Of A Single Chip Surface Detector Trigger Based
On Altera Cyclone Family — •Zbigniew Szadkowski and Karl-
Heinz Kampert for the Pierre Auger Observatory collaboration — Bergische
University Wuppertal
The new Altera PLD family Cyclone chips allows significantly simplifying
the construction of the surface detector trigger as well as decreasing
the total costs and improving parameters. In comparison with currently
approved ACEX chips, Cyclone chips contain much bigger internal memory
(a possibility of an implementation of the slow memory inside the
PLD chip or an extension of fast buffers). 1.5 V supplies the core (reduction
of power consumption). The single chip allows implementing interlaced
DMA mode and avoiding problems with chips synchronization. The
registered performance is on the level 130-170 MHz. Such a high internal
speed allows increasing the sampling frequency, which could improve a
time resolution of the trigger. More resources allow implementing new
kind of triggers based upon Power Density, Power Spectrum Density or
Charge over Threshold. Megacore library offers DSP routines as FFT,
which may be useful to recognize type of events.
We discusses a general class of ladder resummation inspired hadronic
approximations. It is found that this approach naturally reproduces many
successes of single meson per channel saturation models (e.g. VMD) and
NJL based models. In particular the existence of a constituent quark
mass and a gap equation follows naturally. We construct an approximation
that satisfies a large set of QCD short-distance and large Nc constraints
and reproduces many hadronic observables. We show how there
exists in general a problem between QCD short-distance constraints for
Green Functions and those for form factors and cross-sections following
from the quark-counting rule. This problem while expected for Green
functions that do not vanish in purely perturbative QCD also persists for
many Green functions that are order parameters. Work was supported
in part by Swedish research Coincil and by Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaf.
