improve. As we left Cumberl<strong>and</strong> Bay we saw that Endurance had left the cove again -<br />

presumably to fly her helicopters. At 12.45 am Biscoe was approaching Moltke<br />

Harbour, further down the east coast, after experiencing a strong blow off the Ross<br />

Glacier. The boats were lowered <strong>and</strong> we took the launch in, the gemini being used to<br />

ferry us over the last lap to the beach. Nigel Leader-Williams <strong>and</strong> Bob Pratt were<br />

there <strong>and</strong> we walked up the valley, then sat <strong>and</strong> talked about their project, which<br />

seemed to be going well. Reindeer numbers were down to: Barff, c.800; Royal Bay, c.<br />
