3.24.2 Mining and mineral processing operations<br />

The catchment falls under the Bulawayo Mining District (ZGS, 1995). The main mining operation is Wankie<br />

Colliery, where coal is mined from the Lower Karoo sediments. There is also a coking plant. Tin was mined at<br />

Labyrinth Mine in the south, but not any longer. There also are a few calcite deposits, all now out of production<br />

(Table 3.23).<br />
