Hwange National Park (ZSG, 1998). Agriculture is mainly subsistence livestock rearing with some drought<br />

resistant crops. The south is Communal Lands, and agriculture limited mainly to livestock, especially goats.<br />

The main settlement is Plumtree Town.<br />

4.11.1.4 Surface water resources<br />

Plumtree draws water from Questeds Dam on the upper Tegwani.<br />

4.11.1.5 Water management systems<br />

The catchment falls under the Sanyati Catchment Council of ZINWA.<br />

4.11.1.6 Human impacts on water resources (excluding mining)<br />

The following could be expected to have an impact on water resources:<br />

• Landfills, Plumtree;<br />

• Disposal of liquid effluent, Plumtree;<br />

• Non-point domestic effluent, rural areas; and<br />

• Minor non-point impact from non-intensive agriculture.<br />

4.11.2 Mining and mineral processing operations<br />

The catchment falls under the Bulawayo Mining District (ZGS, 1995). There have not, to date, been any mining<br />

activities in the catchment, although some exploration is taking place. There is exploration for gold, copper, zinc<br />

and nickel (ZGS, 2001).<br />

4.11.3 Alluvial mining<br />

Neither known nor likely.<br />

4.11.4 Monitoring systems<br />

None.<br />
