It may also take place in the Mudzi River.

Alluvial gold mining will also affect the rivers. Widespread quarrying of dolerite (“black granite”) alters local drainage patterns and provides depressions for development of stagnant pools of water. 3.39 The Kairezi sub-catchment 3.39.1 General description 3.39.1.1 Hydrology This is Zones G1-G2 of Area F (ZSG, 1984).
