Was named to his current post in January of 1999 after serving since April 1997 as Senior Director of Finance and<br />

Chief Financial Officer.<br />

• Manages all financial activities related to the operation of the organization...also oversees human resources,<br />

<strong>information</strong> technology, concessions operations and the club’s Lakeland business operation.<br />

• Is a member of <strong>MLB</strong>'s Insurance Task Force, working closely with other baseball financial executives in shaping<br />

industry wide insurance products.<br />

• Came to the Tigers after four years as Vice President - Finance of Metrocell, Inc., a wireless <strong>com</strong>munications<br />

specialty retailer.<br />

• Prior work experience includes four years (1989-92) as a Senior Associate for Coopers & Lybrand.<br />

• Born in Saginaw, MI...attended Bridgeport (MI) High School.<br />

• Graduated from Albion (MI) College in 1989 with a degree in economics and management.<br />

• Played two years on Albion’s varsity football squad...was named an Albion College Fellow for his outstanding<br />

academic achievements.<br />

• Is a member of the 1998-99 Leadership Detroit XX Class.<br />

• Is a Certified Public Accountant.<br />

• Serves as treasurer on the Board of Directors of Family Service, Inc., a <strong>com</strong>munity-based agency.<br />

• Serves on the Board of Directors of the Van Buren Public Schools Education Foundation as its president.<br />

• Resides with his wife, Amy, daughter, Cailyn, and son, Sean, in Belleville, MI.<br />

• 45 years of age...enjoys water skiing and snowmobiling in his spare time.<br />

REID<br />

VICE PRESIDENT,<br />

PLAYER PERSONNEL<br />

Enters his 12th season with the Tigers and 11th in his current position after being promoted to his post on<br />

December 16, 2002...originally joined Detroit as the vice president/special assistant to the general manager on<br />

January 15, 2002.<br />

• Is active in scouting at the major league level for the Tigers, and is directly involved in special assignments for<br />

the organization.<br />

• Prior to <strong>com</strong>ing to Detroit, Reid spent 10 seasons with the Florida Marlins...originally joined the club in 1992 as a<br />

major league scout.<br />

• Was named assistant to the general manager for the Marlins in December 1999...promoted to vice<br />

president/assistant to the general manager in March 2000.<br />

• Spent eight seasons with the Chicago Cubs organization before joining the Marlins...was a special player<br />

consultant during his final three years with the Cubs.<br />

• Joined the Cubs in November 1983 and served as a major league scout (1984-85), director of scouting<br />

(1986-87) and as a major league and minor league scout (1988).<br />

• Began his professional baseball career as an outfielder in the Philadelphia organization in 1967 and played in 38<br />

games with the Phillies in 1969 and 1970.<br />

• After his playing career ended in 1973, was a coach and scout for Philadelphia before joining the Cubs.<br />

• Reid, 66, and his wife Sherry, have a son, Brian (1/21/75), daughter, Lindsay (7/25/77), two grandsons,<br />

Jackson (9/9/04) and Cooper (11/26/05) and two granddaughters Brennan (1/2/07) and Morgan (9/12/09).<br />

• His son, Brian, is currently an area scout with the Tigers and his daughter, Lindsay, works as a project manager<br />

for Major League Baseball Advanced Media.<br />
