• Attended Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in sports marketing.
• 34 years old, resides in Lakeland, FL.
• Native of the island of Curacao.
JULIAN
SHABAZZ
ASSISTANT,
AMATEUR SCOUTING
Entering his second season with the Tigers after joining the club following the 2011 season.
• Assists with the day-to-day operations and all phases of amateur scouting.
• Prior to joining the Tigers, Shabazz served as the head student manager for the University of Florida Gators
baseball team.
• Earned his bachelor’s degree in sport management with a minor in business administration from the University
of Florida in 2011.
• A native of Lithonia, GA, he resides in Lakeland, FL.
GIOVANNI
HERNANDEZ
SCOUTING ASSISTANT,
INTERNATIONAL OPERATIONS
Enters his third full season in his current role after being named to the position during the 2010 season.
• Assists Tom Moore in all phases of international operations, including academy operations in Latin America,
video scouting in Asia and overseeing the international budget.
• Served as the international scouting intern with the organization beginning in 2009 before being named to his
current position.
• Prior to joining the Tigers organization, Hernandez served as a community relations intern with the Miami
Dolphins during the 2008 season.
• Served as a public relations intern with the Atlanta Braves during the 2007 season.
• Earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Samford University in 2007 and earned a master’s
degree in sports administration from St. Thomas University in 2009.
• Is 27 years of age and a native of Caguas, Puerto Rico...single and currently resides in Lakeland, FL.
