Enters his 42nd year in professional baseball and his seventh full season with the Tigers after joining the<br />

organization on June 21, 2006.<br />

• Responsible for overseeing the daily scouting operation in the Dominican Republic, while also operating the<br />

club’s tryout camps in the Dominican Republic.<br />

• Prior to joining the Tigers organization, he spent the previous five seasons (2002-06) with the Pittsburgh<br />

Pirates as a scout and scouting supervisor in the Dominican Republic.<br />

• Also worked in scouting and player development in the Dominican Republic for both the Los Angeles Dodgers<br />

(1994-2002) and the Houston Astros (1985-93).<br />

• Spent one season as a coach for Single A Vero Beach in the Dodgers organization, while also serving as a first<br />

base coach (1994-2000) and third base coach (2000-01, 2004-05) for Aguilas in the Dominican Winter League.<br />

• Signed with the Astros as an infielder in 1970 and remained in the organization through the 1979 season.<br />

• Saw action in the Dominican Winter League with Escogido (1973-75), Aguilas (1975-82) and La Romana (1983-84).<br />

• Perez and his wife, Leonor, have a daughter, Paola (28) and son, Aldo (27).<br />

Entering his fifth season with the Tigers after spending the previous seven seasons as a scout with the<br />

Philadelphia Phillies organization.<br />

• Responsible for overseeing the scouting operations in the Pacific Rim, which includes evaluating the<br />

professional leagues in Japan, Korea, Taiwan and China, scouting amateur players in Asia (mainly Japan,<br />

Korea, Taiwan and China) and Australia and overseeing the organization’s Asian scouts.<br />

• Spent seven seasons (2002-08) as a scout with the Philadelphia Phillies where he was responsible for scouting all<br />

of Australia and added the coverage of Taiwan, Korea and Japan the last two years (2007-08).<br />

• In addition to his scouting experience with the Phillies, he served as a baseball coach at various levels in<br />

Australia for nine years (1997-2005).<br />

• Was selected by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 31st round of the June 1995 draft after <strong>com</strong>pleting his playing<br />

career at Oregon State University.<br />

• He and his wife, Jennifer, have two daughters, Gemma (11) and Ivy (10).<br />
