VENEZUELAN SUMMER LEAGUE TIGERS (ROOKIE)<br />

THE SEASON: The VSL Tigers finished with a 30-40 record (.429), third place in the Venezuelan Summer League.<br />

THE BATS: Outfielder Orvin Tovar led the Venezuelan Summer League with 53 RBI, while he tied for the lead with 28 extrabase<br />

hits, finished second with nine home runs, third with 43 runs scored and 119 total bases, tied for fourth with 17 doubles<br />

and tied for fifth with 71 hits. Infielder Jose Zambrano finished third in the league with 77 hits, while he tied for fourth with 12<br />

stolen bases and finished fifth with a .342 batting average and .405 on-base percentage. Catcher Franklin Navarro finished<br />

second in the league with 19 doubles, while he finished fourth with 76 hits, tied for fourth with 24 extra-base hits and 109 total<br />

bases and finished eighth with a .315 batting average. Catcher/first baseman Jose Ovalles tied for fourth in the league with 17<br />

doubles. Infielder Steven Fuentes tied for third in the league with four triples.<br />

THE ARMS: Righthanded pitcher Anthony Castro finished third in the Venezuelan Summer League with 46 strikeouts, while<br />

righthanded pitcher Johan Belisario finished fourth with 43 strikeouts. Righthanded pitcher Edgar Pina topped the league with<br />

13 saves.<br />
