LEAGUE OPERATIONS<br />

Entering his ninth season with the Tigers organization, Lunetta was named the director of minor league<br />

operations on December 8, 2004.<br />

• Based out of Lakeland, FL, Lunetta oversees the day-to-day administrative operations of the minor league<br />

department, including budget responsibilities, working agreements with the six minor league affiliates and the<br />

acquisition of minor league free agent players.<br />

• Prior to joining the Tigers organization, Lunetta most recently spent two seasons as a special assistant to the<br />

general manager with the Montreal Expos (2002-03).<br />

• Spent 10 seasons with the Florida Marlins, joining the organization as the director of minor league administration<br />

on December 1, 1991, before being promoted to director of major league administration on November 1, 1998.<br />

• Served two seasons (1990-91) as the general manager of Triple A Rochester in the International League.<br />

• Spent the 1989 season as the director of team travel and Spring Training coordinator for the Cincinnati Reds<br />

after serving the previous three seasons as the director of team travel with Montreal (1986-88).<br />

• Spent the 1985 season as the director of baseball operations with Triple A Buffalo in the International League.<br />

• Began his baseball career in 1980 as the general manager of Single A Jamestown in the New York-Penn<br />

League, while also serving as the assistant spring training coordinator with Montreal.<br />

• A native of Jamestown, NY, Lunetta is a graduate of State University of New York at Brockport.<br />

• Lunetta, 57, his wife, Jhoanna and sons, Anthony Robert (17) and Samuel Joseph (12) reside in Lakeland, FL.<br />

Enters his third season with the Tigers organization and the second in his current role after being named to the<br />

position on September 19, 2011.<br />

• Directly responsible for all the on-field instruction at the minor league level during Spring Training, the regular<br />

season and instructional league and works directly with Dan Lunetta in overseeing the Tigers minor league<br />

system.<br />

• Joined the organization prior to the 2011 season as the club’s minor league infield coordinator.<br />

• Prior to joining the Tigers organization, he spent three seasons as a coach at the major league level with the<br />

Kansas City Royals, serving as bench coach in 2008 before be<strong>com</strong>ing third base coach for the 2009 and 2010<br />

seasons.<br />

• Spent one season in Japan as a coach with the Hokkaido Nippon Ham Fighters in 2007.<br />

• Served as the minor league infield coordinator for the Philadelphia Phillies for three seasons from 2004-06.<br />

• Prior to his coaching career, he spent 12 seasons as a scout with the Chicago White Sox (1992-96), Tigers<br />

(1997-99) and Phillies (2000-03).<br />

• Played professionally for 11 seasons after being selected by the Chicago Cubs in the 10th round of the June<br />

1979 draft and saw action at the major league level with the Cubs (1983-85) and Royals (1988).<br />

• His brother, Spike, played 13 seasons at the major league level with the Seattle Mariners, Boston Red Sox,<br />

Montreal Expos, New York Yankees and California Angels.<br />

• Owen, 54, and his wife, Yasmin, reside in Cleburne, TX...they have two grown daughters, Haley and Courtney.<br />
