MEDIA INFORMATION AND GUIDELINES<br />
Credentials<br />
Credentials will be issued only to legitimate news-gathering agencies.<br />
• Season credentials will be issued only to those agencies that cover the Tigers on a regular basis...these credentials will be<br />
laminated with photos and must be worn in a visible manner at all times.<br />
• Those not qualifying for season credentials will be considered for daily access.<br />
• All requests for credentials must be made online at credentials.mlb.<strong>com</strong> or in writing on the letterhead of the representative<br />
organization.<br />
• Daily credentials must be requested at least 24 hours in advance of the game to be covered.<br />
• Credentials will be issued to online services that meet all of the following criteria:<br />
(1) Is part of a national news gathering agency.<br />
(2) Reaches a broad audience.<br />
(3) Produces original content.<br />
(4) Has an established record of developing original content.<br />
(5) Employs full-time journalists.<br />
• The Ernie Harwell Media Center is for use by working media ONLY...credentials are not transferable.<br />
• Credentialed media are prohibited from requesting autographs on the field or in the clubhouse...all requests should be made<br />
through the Tigers Media Relations Department with any violation resulting in immediate revocation of the credential.<br />
• Daily credentials will be available at the designated press gate located on Montcalm Avenue three-and-a-half hours before the<br />
scheduled first pitch.<br />
• No credentials will be mailed.<br />
Media Entrance<br />
Media may enter Comerica Park through the main administrative lobby located on Montcalm Avenue.<br />
Parking<br />
A limited number of parking spaces will be set aside for use by media on a daily basis. Please contact the Tigers Media Relations<br />
office for more <strong>information</strong>.<br />
Ernie Harwell Media Center<br />
The Ernie Harwell Media Center is located on the lower suite level behind home plate. Access to press areas is by ramp, media<br />
elevator and stairs (to the third-base side of home).<br />
• No photography is permitted in the media center without prior approval from the Tigers Media Relations Department.<br />
• When appropriate, seating charts will be posted, and some seats will be permanently reserved for the regular season. However,<br />
please contact a Tigers Media Relations representative for assistance with seating location.<br />
• The media center includes a designated, partitioned area for electronic media located on the first-base side of the media center.<br />
• Game <strong>information</strong> packages will be available on the back counter of the media center approximately two hours before the game.<br />
Box scores, play-by-play sheets and post-game notes will be distributed in the media center, normally about 15 minutes after the<br />
game’s final pitch.<br />
Clubhouses<br />
Entrance to both clubhouses is on the Comerica Park service level, accessible by media elevator, ramp or stairs. The Tigers<br />
clubhouse is located behind third base, while the visitor’s clubhouse is behind first base.<br />
• Pre- and post-game access rules are those issued by Major League Baseball.<br />
• All still photography and pre-game video photography is prohibited in the Tigers clubhouse without prior consent from the Tigers<br />
Media Relations Department. The use of flip cameras and mobile photographic/video devices is not permitted in the Tigers<br />
clubhouse at any point.<br />
• Tweeting and texting are prohibited in the manager’s office at all times.<br />
Pre-Game Field Access<br />
Only media with credentials permitting field access will be allowed on the Comerica Park playing field. All media must clear the<br />
field 30 minutes prior to first pitch.<br />
Television Coverage<br />
All local television stations are prohibited from shooting and distributing footage inside Comerica Park beginning 30 minutes prior<br />
to each contest and until all broadcast television rightsholders have signed off the air.<br />
• Footage from Comerica Park property and the concourse area are permitted as long as the playing field does not appear in any<br />
way in the shot.<br />
• Television cameras on and around field level are limited to natural light whenever players are on the field.<br />
• All local television stations desiring to shoot inside Comerica Park must request to do so in advance through the Detroit Tigers<br />
Media Relations Department.<br />
In-Game Field Access/Photo Wells<br />
Only those with credentials expressly permitting in-game field access will be allowed in the photo wells. Two photo wells are<br />
located adjacent to each dugout, one on the infield side and one on the outfield side of each.<br />
• In-game access is limited to still photographers and rightsholders broadcasting the game. Enter and exit the field via the home<br />
plate entrance only.<br />
• All photographers must be inside the photo wells at all times.<br />
• While the game is in progress, photographers on the field may only change location between innings. Those photographers on<br />
the field who change location at any other time without prior approval from the Tigers Media Relations Department are subject to<br />
immediate revocation of credentials.<br />
• The installation and placement of parabolic microphones and remote equipment is limited to camera wells and must not interfere<br />
or block house video. All equipment must remain in the wells and not extend out toward the playing field.<br />
• No ball — in play or dead — should be handled by anyone other than a ballboy.<br />
Media Hospitality<br />
Media hospitality is in the dining room, located in the back of the Ernie Harwell Media Center. There is a charge per meal.<br />
• Open for meal service to accredited media members two hours before first pitch.<br />
Media Guides<br />
Media <strong>guide</strong>s of the Tigers are available in the Ernie Harwell Media Center from Tigers Media Relations personnel, while all Major<br />
League Baseball publications and media <strong>guide</strong>s of the other 29 teams are available on mlbpressbox.<strong>com</strong> to accredited media.<br />
