TIGERS MINOR LEAGUE COORDINATORS<br />

SHARON LOCKWOOD<br />

International Player Programs Coordinator<br />

Lockwood enters her fifth season with the Tigers organization as the international player programs<br />

coordinator, her 16th season in professional baseball.<br />

She is responsible for developing and implementing the Tigers acculturation program, which includes<br />

programs in the United States, Venezuela and the Dominican Republic. In her role, Lockwood provides the<br />

foundation for all Latin American and International players, which includes English, adapting to life in the<br />

United States and a broader base of life skills learning.<br />

Lockwood began her career in baseball as an English teacher to Latin American players with the Kansas City Royals in<br />

Baseball City (1997-98). Additionally, she worked for the Cleveland Indians as an English teacher to Latin American players during<br />

Spring Training, extended Spring Training and the Gulf Coast League season in Winter Haven (1998-2008).<br />

She received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Central Florida, an interdisciplinary degree in humanities, foreign<br />

languages, music and art history. Lockwood earned a master’s degree in applied linguistics from the University of South Florida.<br />

Lockwood has three children: Meredith (5/14/83), Patrick (5/6/85) and Robert (8/24/87).<br />

COREY TREMBLE<br />

Medical Coordinator<br />

Tremble returns for his sixth season with the Tigers organization in <strong>2013</strong>, his first as the minor league<br />

medical coordinator.<br />

He served as the trainer for the Gulf Coast League Tigers during the 2008 season, Single A West<br />

Michigan during both the 2009 and 2010 seasons and Single A Lakeland during both the 2011 and 2012<br />

seasons. Additionally, Tremble served as the interim minor league medical coordinator for three months<br />

following the 2008 season until Dustin Campbell was named to the position in December.<br />

Tremble interned as a trainer at the minor league level with the Tigers in both 2005 and 2006.<br />

Additionally, he served as a trainer with Surprise in the Arizona Fall League in 2010.<br />

He was the head athletic trainer as a graduate assistant with the University of South Florida baseball team from the fall of 2006<br />

through the spring of 2008. Tremble received his bachelor’s degree in athletic training from Florida Southern College in 2005, while<br />

he earned a master’s degree in exercise science from the University of South Florida in 2008.<br />

Tremble is a certified athletic trainer, licensed athletic trainer in the state of Florida and a certified strength and conditioning<br />

specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association.<br />

He was the recipient of the Dr. Clarence Livingood Memorial Scholarship from the Professional Baseball Athletic Trainers<br />

Society in 2006 and he has been the Florida representative for the National Athletic Trainers Association Young Professionals<br />

Committee since 2007.<br />

CHRIS WALTER<br />

Strength and Conditioning Coordinator<br />

Walter enters his ninth season as the Tigers minor league strength and conditioning coordinator in<br />

<strong>2013</strong>.<br />

Prior to joining the Tigers, he spent four seasons with the Cleveland Indians organization working as a<br />

minor league strength and conditioning coach with Single A Kinston (2001), Double A Akron (2002, 2004)<br />

and Single A Mahoning Valley (2003).<br />

Walter received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Akron in 1999 in physical education with a<br />

concentration in coaching and strength and conditioning.<br />

He is a certified strength and conditioning specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association.<br />

STEVE CHASE<br />

Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coordinator<br />

Chase enters his ninth season with the Tigers organization, his fifth as the assistant strength and<br />

conditioning coordinator.<br />

He served as a strength and conditioning coordinator with Single A Lakeland (2005), Double A Erie<br />

(2006-07) and Triple A Toledo (2008) prior to being named to his current position.<br />

Chase received his bachelor’s degree from Grand Valley State University in physical education with an<br />

emphasis on fitness and wellness.<br />

He is a certified strength and conditioning specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association.<br />

THANKS A MILLION, TIGERS FANS<br />

The Tigers have drawn over one million fans at home in each of the past 48 seasons, the lone American League team to<br />

do so. Only the Cardinals (49 years) and the Dodgers (67 years) have longer streaks. The Dodgers drew over one million fans<br />

in their last 13 seasons in Brooklyn, and all 54 years in Los Angeles. In addition, the Tigers topped the one hundred million mark<br />

in franchise history in 1994.<br />
