<strong>2013</strong> TIGERS<br />

• Established a career high with a 15-game hitting streak July 6-25, batting .415 (22x53) with 11 runs scored, five<br />

doubles, six home runs and 13 RBI.<br />

• Batted .362 (34x94) with 16 runs scored, six doubles, eight home runs and 21 RBI in 26 games during July -- tied for<br />

third in the National League with eight home runs during the month, while he finished seventh with a .681 slugging<br />

percentage, tied for 10th with 34 hits and 12th with a .362 batting average.<br />

• Collected his 500th career RBI on September 4 at Washington to be<strong>com</strong>e the third-youngest player in major league<br />

history at 24 years, 139 days old to reach 500 RBI -- only Mel Ott (23 years, 74 days) and Ted Williams (24 years, four<br />

days) were younger when they reached 500 RBI.<br />

• Connected for his first career grand slam on September 15 at Colorado.<br />

• Tied for sixth in the National League with 26 RBI during September -- batted .343 (35x102) in 27 games during the<br />

month, collecting four doubles and four home runs.<br />

• Tied for fifth in the National League with a .364 batting average (43x118) versus lefthanded pitchers...batted .309<br />

(145x470) with righties on the mound.<br />

• Ninth in the league with a .336 batting average (98x292) in 79 games at home...batted .304 (90x296) in 78 games on<br />

the road.<br />

• Hit .378 (59x156) with runners in scoring position, tops in the National League.<br />

• Fourth among National League third basemen with 100 putouts and 266 assists...tied for second among league third<br />

basemen with 23 errors.<br />

• Hit .375 (9x24) with two doubles and three RBI in seven games for Aragua in the Venezuelan Winter League following<br />

the season.<br />

Established Marlins single-season records with a .339 batting average and 50 doubles as he was selected to the National<br />

League’s all-star squad for the third straight season in 2006...tabbed the Marlins Most Valuable Player by the South<br />

Florida chapter of the BBWAA.<br />

• Second in the National League with a .339 batting average and .430 on-base percentage, while he finished third with<br />

50 doubles and 63 multi-hit games, fourth with 27 intentional walks, sixth with a .568 slugging percentage, seventh with<br />

195 hits, tied for eighth with 78 extra-base hits, tied for ninth with 114 RBI and 10th with 327 total bases.<br />

• Earned his second Silver Slugger Award, his first as a third baseman.<br />

• Selected to Baseball America’s First-Team Major League all-star squad following the season.<br />

• Participated in the Home Run Derby at Major League Baseball’s All-Star Game in Pittsburgh, finishing third with 15<br />

• Became just the fourth player in major league history to collect 50 doubles and 25 home runs in a season before his<br />

the lead in the National League with 42 hits and 14 doubles during the month, while he was fourth with a .378 batting<br />

average and 30 RBI, seventh with a .441 on-base percentage, eighth with a .640 slugging percentage and tied for<br />

eighth with 23 runs scored.<br />

• Equaled a career high with two home runs on August 16 at the Los Angeles Dodgers -- matched the high with two home<br />

runs on August 23 versus Washington.<br />

• Shared National League Player of the Week honors with San Francisco’s Noah Lowry for August 21-27 -- hit .409<br />

(9x22) with eight runs scored, two doubles, a triple, three home runs and nine RBI in six games during the week.<br />

• Connected for his 100th career home run on August 23 versus Washington, a solo shot off Chris Schroder in the third<br />

inning -- at 23 years, 127 days old, he became the sixth-youngest player in major league history to reach 100 career<br />

home runs...the five players to reach the plateau faster than Cabrera were Mel Ott (22 years, 132 days), Tony<br />

Conigliaro (22 years, 197 days), Eddie Mathews (22 years, 292 days), Alex Rodriguez (23 years, 16 days) and Andruw<br />

Jones (23 years, 62 days).<br />

• Batted .379 (39x103) with 18 runs scored, 11 doubles, seven home runs and 32 RBI in 27 games during August -- tied<br />

for the lead in the National League with 11 doubles, while he finished second with 32 RBI, fourth with a .379 batting<br />

average and .709 slugging percentage, tied for fourth with 39 hits, tied for sixth with seven home runs and eighth with<br />

a .434 on-base percentage.<br />

• Hit .351 (34x97) in 26 games during September, scoring 18 runs and collecting six doubles, three home runs and 16<br />

RBI -- eighth in the National League with a .453 on-base percentage during the month.<br />

• Topped the National League with a .344 batting average (152x442) against righthanded pitchers...hit .321 (43x134) with<br />

lefties on the mound.<br />
