2013 TIGERS
• Prior to joining Jim Leyland’s coaching staff in Pittsburgh in 1986, he spent eight seasons (1978-85) as a manager in
the Kansas City Royals organization.
• He played 13 seasons as a professional (1965-77), all but the 1973 season (Atlanta Braves organization) in the Tigers
organization, after being Detroit’s first-round selection in 1965...saw action at the major league level with the Tigers
during five seasons (1970-72, 1974-75).
• Attended Northern Illinois University and Western Illinois University.
• Attended the Ilitch Charities Gala and participated in the Tigers Winter Caravan.
• He and his wife Melody reside in Sarasota, FL during the off-season...the couple has two children, Melissa (8/26/82)
and Wade (6/25/84)...Wade was selected by the Tigers in the 29th round of the 2007 Major League Baseball First-Year
Player Draft.
