TIGERS IN THE COMMUNITY<br />

BASEBALL FUNDAMENTALS<br />

The Baseball FUNdamentals program is designed to build<br />

children’s excitement about baseball. The program includes<br />

in-school baseball and softball instructional sessions during gym<br />

class and <strong>com</strong>munity skills clinics with Tigers coaches and<br />

training staff.<br />

DETROIT TIGERS HOMETOWN CHAMPIONSHIP<br />

A signature event, the Detroit Tigers Hometown Championship is<br />

a three-day baseball and softball tournament for Detroit area<br />

youth ages 6-19. The tournament is designed to showcase the<br />

area’s best talent as well as refurbished youth baseball and<br />

softball fields in Detroit.<br />

TEAM TIGERS<br />

An online registration and reward program, Team Tigers has<br />

served over 15,000 Tee Ball, youth baseball and youth softball<br />

players since 2008. By registering online at tigers.<strong>com</strong>, teams<br />

receive resources and tools to help them succeed, including<br />

game and practice equipment, team wristbands and a best<br />

practices manual on field maintenance and fundraising.<br />

50/50 RAFFLE<br />

The 50/50 raffle program was developed in 2008 in an effort to<br />

create awareness and raise funds in partnership with select local<br />

charities while enjoying an evening at Comerica Park. Since its<br />

inception, the 50/50 raffle has raised nearly $450,000 to support<br />

local charities including the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society<br />

and the American Diabetes Association.<br />

VERLANDER’S VICTORY FOR VETERANS<br />

For each of his home starts, Justin Verlander hosts Veterans from the John D. Dingell Veterans Affairs Medical<br />

Center in Detroit and the Veterans Affairs Ann Arbor Healthcare System. These Veterans sustained injuries or<br />

illness in Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom or in Afghanistan during Operation Enduring Freedom. The Veterans,<br />

along with their families, cheer on the Tigers from the <strong>com</strong>fort of Verlander’s personal luxury suite. Veterans receive<br />

a personalized wel<strong>com</strong>e letter from Verlander, while all guests receive a Verlander’s Victory for Veterans T-shirt and<br />

are wel<strong>com</strong>ed on the scoreboard during the game.<br />

AUTOGRAPHED MEMORABILIA DONATION PROGRAM<br />

Each year, nearly 1,500 charitable organizations benefit from in-kind donations from the Tigers, including<br />

autographed memorabilia, unique experience packages and luxury suites.<br />

TICKET DONATION PROGRAM<br />

Each year the Tigers organization donates over 100,000 tickets to groups throughout Michigan, northern Ohio and<br />

southern Ontario, Canada to allow charitable and other deserving groups the opportunity to enjoy Tigers baseball<br />

at Comerica Park.<br />
