TIGERS IN THE COMMUNITY
BASEBALL FUNDAMENTALS
The Baseball FUNdamentals program is designed to build
children’s excitement about baseball. The program includes
in-school baseball and softball instructional sessions during gym
class and community skills clinics with Tigers coaches and
training staff.
DETROIT TIGERS HOMETOWN CHAMPIONSHIP
A signature event, the Detroit Tigers Hometown Championship is
a three-day baseball and softball tournament for Detroit area
youth ages 6-19. The tournament is designed to showcase the
area’s best talent as well as refurbished youth baseball and
softball fields in Detroit.
TEAM TIGERS
An online registration and reward program, Team Tigers has
served over 15,000 Tee Ball, youth baseball and youth softball
players since 2008. By registering online at tigers.com, teams
receive resources and tools to help them succeed, including
game and practice equipment, team wristbands and a best
practices manual on field maintenance and fundraising.
50/50 RAFFLE
The 50/50 raffle program was developed in 2008 in an effort to
create awareness and raise funds in partnership with select local
charities while enjoying an evening at Comerica Park. Since its
inception, the 50/50 raffle has raised nearly $450,000 to support
local charities including the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society
and the American Diabetes Association.
VERLANDER’S VICTORY FOR VETERANS
For each of his home starts, Justin Verlander hosts Veterans from the John D. Dingell Veterans Affairs Medical
Center in Detroit and the Veterans Affairs Ann Arbor Healthcare System. These Veterans sustained injuries or
illness in Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom or in Afghanistan during Operation Enduring Freedom. The Veterans,
along with their families, cheer on the Tigers from the comfort of Verlander’s personal luxury suite. Veterans receive
a personalized welcome letter from Verlander, while all guests receive a Verlander’s Victory for Veterans T-shirt and
are welcomed on the scoreboard during the game.
AUTOGRAPHED MEMORABILIA DONATION PROGRAM
Each year, nearly 1,500 charitable organizations benefit from in-kind donations from the Tigers, including
autographed memorabilia, unique experience packages and luxury suites.
TICKET DONATION PROGRAM
Each year the Tigers organization donates over 100,000 tickets to groups throughout Michigan, northern Ohio and
southern Ontario, Canada to allow charitable and other deserving groups the opportunity to enjoy Tigers baseball
at Comerica Park.
