TIGERS MEDIA RELATIONS STAFF<br />

AILEEN<br />

VILLARREAL<br />

Beginning her third season with the Tigers after joining the media relations department in<br />

November of 2010 as the baseball media relations coordinator.<br />

• Assists with the day-to-day efforts of the baseball media relations department, including<br />

game notes, team statistical research and credentialing of the media.<br />

• Assists in the writing and editing of the Tigers Magazine, yearbook, media <strong>guide</strong> and<br />

season review publications.<br />

• Responsible for writing and distributing the organization’s business and <strong>com</strong>munity affairs<br />

press releases and media advisories.<br />

• Travels with the club during the spring season to facilitate media requests and provide game-related <strong>information</strong>.<br />

• Oversees the club’s Spanish social media <strong>com</strong>munication via Twitter (@TigresdeDetroit).<br />

• Prior to joining the Tigers, interned with the Houston Astros market development department for a portion of 2010.<br />

• Served as Head Senior Personnel Manager for the Notre Dame Football team and supervised the entire Athletic Student<br />

Manager Organization during the 2009 season.<br />

• Graduated from the University of Notre Dame in May, 2010 with a BA in Sociology and Film, Television and Theatre.<br />

• Is 24 years old and a native of Montebello (East Los Angeles), CA...resides in Royal Oak, MI.<br />

MOLLY<br />

BETENSLEY<br />

Begins her 14th season with the Tigers organization and her sixth as the director of<br />

broadcasting.<br />

• Direct contact and liaison for the Tigers broadcast partners and National rightsholders<br />

throughout the year, including FSD, WXYT, ESPN, NHK, TBS, FUJI, FOX and <strong>MLB</strong><br />

Network; fulfills and maintains rightsholders and media partner’s contractual obligations<br />

while overseeing all aspects of Detroit Tigers radio and TV game broadcasts, National<br />

and International broadcasts from Comerica Park, programming, production and<br />

broadcasters.<br />

• Writes and prioritizes scripts for broadcasts and various productions while administering interviews and features with broadcast<br />

partners promoting the Tigers business and <strong>com</strong>munity efforts focusing on the team's involvement with charitable organizations<br />

and area youth in addition to the Tigers ticket sales, promotions and special event planning.<br />

• Responsible for securing guests, players and storylines for pre-game, post-game and weekly shows for FSD, WXYT, ESPN,<br />

FOX National and <strong>MLB</strong> Network.<br />

• Main liaison for <strong>MLB</strong> broadcasting, responsible for all correspondence between <strong>MLB</strong> broadcasting and the Detroit Tigers<br />

including scheduling spring training and regular season radio and TV broadcasts.<br />

• Oversaw broadcast operations during the 2005 All-Star Game, the 2006, 2011 and 2012 Tigers post-seasons...the 2006 and<br />

2012 World Series and 2005 All-Star Game were broadcast to 224 countries and in 13 languages under her supervision...worked<br />

at the Major League Baseball All-Star Game in 2003 (Chicago, IL) and 2004 (Houston, TX).<br />

• Spearheaded the first-ever Detroit Tigers Spanish Language television broadcast which aired on FSD on August 9, 2008 and the<br />

Detroit Tigers Spanish language radio broadcasts during the 2000 season...served as the Spanish Language media liaison for<br />

the Tigers Latin American players from 2003-2008.<br />

• Joined the Tigers as broadcast coordinator in February of 2000 before being named media relations/broadcast manager prior to<br />

the 2003 season.<br />

• Prior to joining the Tigers, was a Big Ten college football production assistant for ABC Wide World of Sports in New York.<br />

• Earned a Master’s of Science degree in 1999 from Syracuse University's Newhouse School of Public Communications in<br />

broadcast journalism.<br />

• Graduated with honors from the University of Michigan in May 1998 with a BA in <strong>com</strong>munication studies...delivered the 2012<br />

University of Michigan Department of Communication Studies Commencement speech.<br />

• Interned with the University of Michigan 1997 National Championship Football Team.<br />

• Is on the Board of Trustees for The Ernie Harwell Foundation; is a member of the American Sportscasters Association, Inc. and<br />

of the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association.<br />

• She and her husband, Alan, have a Saint Berdoodle named Boris...Boris, an AKC Canine Good Citizen and certified International<br />

Therapy Dog, volunteers at area hospitals.<br />
