For 1990-2001 <strong>the</strong> POP emission factors have been updated in order to correct errors in <strong>the</strong> inventories<br />

for <strong>the</strong>se years.<br />

Railways<br />

An update of <strong>the</strong> NO , NMVOC, CH , CO and PM emission factors for diesel are made for 2002.<br />

X 4<br />

Previously 2001 factors were used for <strong>the</strong> year 2002 to compensate for missing data.<br />

Agriculture/Forestry/Fisheries<br />

An internal redistribution of gasoline fuel consumption is made. Small amounts of gasoline that<br />

appeared in <strong>the</strong> sub-sector fisheries (in some inventory years) are now accounted for in <strong>the</strong> road<br />

transport sector.<br />

Civil Aviation<br />

Several new turboprops are included in <strong>the</strong> list of representative aircraft for civil aviation based on<br />

new information in <strong>the</strong> EMEP/CORINAIR guidebook. This change has an impact on <strong>the</strong> fuel use<br />

split between domestic and international aviation and <strong>the</strong> emission factors used.<br />

Navigation<br />

For 2002 <strong>the</strong> diesel fuel use for navigation has been updated according to <strong>the</strong> official Danish energy<br />

statistics from DEA.<br />

Uncertainties<br />

The uncertainty factors for activity data have been changed to reflect specific national knowledge<br />

(Bak et al. 2003) in <strong>the</strong> following SNAP categories: Inland waterways (a part of 1A3d: Navigation),<br />

Agriculture and Forestry (parts of 1A4c: Agriculture/forestry/fisheries), Industry (mobile part of<br />

(1A2f: Industry-o<strong>the</strong>r) and Residential (1A4b). In addition <strong>the</strong> activity data uncertainty factor for<br />

civil aviation is changed to 10% according to own judgement.<br />

3.3.6 Planned improvements<br />

It will continuously be aspired to fulfil <strong>the</strong> requirements from UNECE and UNFCCC of good<br />

practice in inventory making for transport. A study has been made for transport going through <strong>the</strong><br />

different issues of choices relating to methods (methods used, emission factors, activity data, completeness,<br />

time-series consistency, uncertainty assessment) reporting and documentation, and inventory<br />

quality assurance/quality control. This work and <strong>the</strong> overall priorities of NERI taking into<br />

account emission source importance (from <strong>the</strong> Danish 2003 key source analysis), background data<br />

available and time resources, lay down <strong>the</strong> following list of improvements to be made in <strong>the</strong> future.<br />

Non-road machinery<br />

According to <strong>the</strong> Danish 2003 key source analysis agricultural and industrial working machines<br />

are key sources of emissions. Thus an update of <strong>the</strong> vehicle stock and operational data for nonroad<br />

machines in agriculture, forestry, industry and household and gardening will be made. The<br />

considered time-series will cover <strong>the</strong> period from 1990 to <strong>the</strong> latest historical year. In addition a<br />

review will be made of <strong>the</strong> emission factors used.<br />

Fisheries<br />

Since fishing vessels are a key source of emissions, <strong>the</strong> calculation method for fisheries will be upgraded<br />

to Tier2 based on detailed data for vessel numbers.<br />
