In <strong>the</strong> EMEP/CORINAIR Guidebook (Richardson, 1999) emission factors for different countries<br />

are given. In <strong>the</strong> Danish emission inventory <strong>the</strong> Norwegian emission factors are used (Table 3.30)<br />

(Flugsrud et al., 2000). The emissions for storage of oil are given in <strong>the</strong> green accounts from DONG<br />

for 2003 (DONG, 2004) and <strong>the</strong> emission factor is calculated on <strong>the</strong> basis of <strong>the</strong> amount of oil<br />

transported in pipeline.<br />

Oil Refineries<br />

Petroleum products processing: In <strong>the</strong> production process at <strong>the</strong> refineries a part of <strong>the</strong> volatile<br />

hydrocarbons (VOC) is emitted to <strong>the</strong> atmosphere. It is assumed that CH 4 accounts for 1% and<br />

NMVOC for 99% of <strong>the</strong> emissions. The VOC emissions from <strong>the</strong> petroleum refinery processes<br />

cover non-combustion emissions from feed stock handling/storage, petroleum products processing,<br />

product storage/handling and flaring. SO 2 is also emitted from <strong>the</strong> non-combustion processes<br />

and includes emissions from products processing and sulphur recovery plants. The emission calculations<br />

are based on information form <strong>the</strong> Danish refineries and <strong>the</strong> energy statistic.<br />

3.5.2.3 Fugitive emissions from natural gas, transmission and distribution (CRF sector 1B2b)<br />

Inventories of CH emission from gas transmission and distribution are based on annual environ-<br />

mental reports from DONG and on a Danish emission inventory for <strong>the</strong> years 1999-2003 reported<br />

by <strong>the</strong> Danish gas sector (transmission and distribution companies) (Karll 2003, Karll 2004). The<br />

inventories estimated by <strong>the</strong> Danish gas sector are based on <strong>the</strong> work carried out by Marcogas and<br />

<strong>the</strong> International Gas Union (IGU). Data for gas distribution have not been updated this year, and<br />

instead <strong>the</strong> 2002 data are applied for 2003.<br />
