1929 June Visits Johann Loserth in Graz to discuss publishing <strong>the</strong> Hutterites’ Das Klein<br />

Geschichtsbuch.<br />

End November Gives lecture series in Vienna <strong>and</strong> in Graz.<br />

Visits historical Hutterian settlements in Hungary.<br />

1930 May 30 Embarks on journey to United States <strong>and</strong> Canada.<br />

Mid-June –August Visits <strong>the</strong> Hutterian colonies in South Dakota.<br />

August –December Visits <strong>the</strong> Schmiedeleut colonies in Manitoba, <strong>the</strong>n travels on to <strong>the</strong><br />

Dariusleut <strong>and</strong> Lehrerleut colonies in Alberta.<br />

December 9 Accepted into <strong>the</strong> Gemeinde of <strong>the</strong> Hutterian Brethren by <strong>the</strong> elders of <strong>the</strong><br />

Dariusleut, Lehrerleut, <strong>and</strong> Schmiedeleut.<br />

December 14 Ordained as “servant of <strong>the</strong> Word.”<br />

1931 January–Mid-April Revisits <strong>the</strong> Hutterian colonies in Alberta, Manitoba, <strong>and</strong> South Dakota.<br />

April Lectures at <strong>the</strong> University of South Dakota <strong>and</strong> at Goshen College.<br />

May 10 Returns to Germany.<br />

1932 Works on a new edition of Innenl<strong>and</strong>.<br />

1933 End October Breaks his leg. The complicated fracture requires an operation in Fulda.<br />

1934 End February– Early March Journey to Switzerl<strong>and</strong>, <strong>the</strong>n on to Liechtenstein.<br />

Supervises <strong>the</strong> building up of <strong>the</strong> Alm <strong>Bruderhof</strong>.<br />

Mid-May Returns to <strong>the</strong> Rhön; undergoes a second operation on his leg in Fulda.<br />

July–September Makes his second visit to <strong>the</strong> Alm <strong>Bruderhof</strong>.<br />

October Appointments with various government ministries in Berlin.<br />

1935 March 1–9 Visits <strong>the</strong> Alm <strong>Bruderhof</strong> for <strong>the</strong> third time.<br />

March 11 Meets in Zürich, Switzerl<strong>and</strong>, with Leonhard Ragaz <strong>and</strong> representatives of <strong>the</strong><br />

religious-socialist movement.<br />

March 25– May 6 Journeys to Engl<strong>and</strong> <strong>and</strong> Scotl<strong>and</strong>. Lectures in London, Edinburgh,<br />

Glasgow, <strong>and</strong> Birmingham.<br />

May 13–June 5 Fourth visit to <strong>the</strong> Alm <strong>Bruderhof</strong>.<br />

June 13 –July 31 Fifth visit to <strong>the</strong> Alm <strong>Bruderhof</strong>.<br />

September 27– October 5 Sixth visit to <strong>the</strong> Alm <strong>Bruderhof</strong>.<br />

November 12 Leaves <strong>the</strong> Rhön <strong>Bruderhof</strong> <strong>and</strong> travels to <strong>the</strong> Elisabeth Hospital in Darmstadt.<br />
