Vpon a petition given in by <strong>the</strong> Viscount <strong>of</strong> Tarbet for stopping a<br />

way going by his house at Roystoun, it is <strong>the</strong> opinion <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Lords <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>the</strong> Articles that warrand be granted to <strong>the</strong> Lords Collintoun, Reidfoord,<br />

Sir John Foulis, Sir William Hope and Sir John Young, to<br />

consider and determine in that matter.<br />

<strong>The</strong>re being againe double elections returned from <strong>the</strong> shire <strong>of</strong> Air,<br />

viz. one in favours <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Laird <strong>of</strong> Blair and <strong>the</strong> Laird- <strong>of</strong> Craigie, and<br />

<strong>the</strong> o<strong>the</strong>r in favours <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Laird <strong>of</strong> Blair and <strong>the</strong> Laird <strong>of</strong> Collene,<br />

<strong>the</strong> consideration <strong>the</strong>re<strong>of</strong> remitted to <strong>the</strong> committee for contraverted<br />

elections.<br />

<strong>The</strong> Lord Commissioners <strong>Grace</strong> did nominate <strong>the</strong> Arch-Bishops <strong>of</strong><br />

St. Andrews and Glasgow, <strong>the</strong> Earles <strong>of</strong> Strathmore and Sou<strong>the</strong>sque,<br />

<strong>the</strong> President <strong>of</strong> Session and Sir Thomas Stewart <strong>of</strong> Balcaskie, and <strong>the</strong><br />

commissioners for Aberdeen and Glasgow, to meete and consider <strong>the</strong><br />

whole affaire <strong>of</strong> Thomas Hoodie's mortification for building a Kirk in<br />

Edinburgh, and what hes been done <strong>the</strong>rein, and to report, and <strong>the</strong><br />

Bishop <strong>of</strong> Edinburgh to be present at this committee.<br />

Ane Act approving <strong>the</strong> sentence <strong>of</strong> forfaulture against Mr: Robert<br />

Baillie sometyme <strong>of</strong> Jerriswood being read, and <strong>the</strong> process and pro»<br />

bation taken <strong>the</strong>rein being produced and read, <strong>the</strong> Act was voted and<br />

passed' <strong>the</strong> Articles to be <strong>of</strong>fered to <strong>the</strong> parliament.<br />

<strong>The</strong> process <strong>of</strong> forfeiture against <strong>the</strong> late Earle <strong>of</strong> Argyle and probation<br />

<strong>the</strong>rein being read, <strong>the</strong> Act approving <strong>the</strong> sentence ot his<br />

forfeiture was againe read and past <strong>the</strong> Articles and brought in to <strong>the</strong><br />

parliament.<br />

<strong>The</strong> Lord Justice Clerk and Sir William Bruce added to <strong>the</strong> Lord<br />

Tarbet for considering <strong>the</strong> petition given in by <strong>the</strong> Lairds <strong>of</strong> M^dowgall<br />

and Roray against Lord Neill Canqpble.<br />

14 May 1685. Ante meridiem.<br />

<strong>The</strong> Earle <strong>of</strong> Lothian and <strong>the</strong> Earl <strong>of</strong> Roxburgh being called, and<br />

<strong>the</strong>ir Advocats, at length heard upon <strong>the</strong> petition given in by <strong>the</strong> Earle<br />

<strong>of</strong> Lothian for precedency and <strong>the</strong> writs produced being considered by<br />

<strong>the</strong> Lords <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Articles, it is <strong>the</strong>ir opinion that <strong>the</strong> desire <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

petition should be refuised.<br />

<strong>The</strong> process at <strong>the</strong> instance <strong>of</strong> Madam Brisbane against <strong>the</strong> Earle <strong>of</strong><br />

Leven being called and <strong>the</strong> parties advocats heard, remitted to <strong>the</strong> Arch-<br />

Bishops <strong>of</strong> St. Andrews and (jilasgow, <strong>the</strong> Earles <strong>of</strong> Mar and Tweeddate,<br />

<strong>the</strong> President <strong>of</strong> Session and Sir George Lockhart, Sir Patrick<br />

Murray and <strong>the</strong> Provost <strong>of</strong> Glasgow, to meet and to consider that wholl<br />

matter and to Report.<br />

Vpon a petition given in by <strong>the</strong> Laird <strong>of</strong> Edzell anent <strong>the</strong> title <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>the</strong> Earle <strong>of</strong> Crawfurd, warrand given for a citation against <strong>the</strong> Earle<br />

<strong>of</strong> Crawfurd upon ten dayes.<br />

<strong>The</strong> petition given in by Mr. James Eleis <strong>of</strong> Stenhopmylnes against<br />

<strong>the</strong> Earles <strong>of</strong> Cassills and Lothian and <strong>the</strong> Laird <strong>of</strong> Brodie being<br />

called, <strong>the</strong> parties appointed to be readie to answer <strong>the</strong> first meeting <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>the</strong> Articles in <strong>the</strong> next week.<br />

15 May 1685.<br />

<strong>The</strong> Report concerning <strong>the</strong> Earles <strong>of</strong> Lothian and Roxburgh being<br />

sread, appointed to be brought in to <strong>the</strong> parliament.
