65. Moray was extremely obliged to Queensberry for <strong>the</strong><br />

favour he was pleased to express towards Blackball. As for <strong>the</strong><br />

two he called his friends, if anything were found against <strong>the</strong>m<br />

relating to <strong>the</strong> Government, Moray was confident Blackball<br />

would be so far from speaking on <strong>the</strong>ir behalf that he would be<br />

<strong>the</strong>ir enemy as much as loyal and honest men ought. He<br />

had sent down <strong>the</strong> King's letter warranting probation by oath,<br />

where o<strong>the</strong>r probation failed ; and <strong>the</strong> remissions for Philiphauch,<br />

Gallowshels, and Carstaers, by last post to <strong>the</strong> Lord Chancellor.<br />

And now he sends inclosed a letter in favour <strong>of</strong> Sir John<br />

Falconer, and ano<strong>the</strong>r concerning Koched, <strong>the</strong> town clerk <strong>of</strong><br />

Edinburgh, in <strong>the</strong> very words Queensberry had desired <strong>the</strong>m.<br />
